This is a legitimate and reasonable inquiry. Acquiring things is definitely part of Extant Hominoidea in all our glory. In other words, we have continually sought to acquire things, food, and items of lilliputian usefulness. But the hunter-gatherer’s compulsion with collecting items that are of little function is not as intense.

The hunter-gatherer, was, and in some parts of the planet still is, fairly economical with collecting items of little use. This, in part, is because of the tremendous proportion of time spent just trying to live and he/ she may be nomadic, making it harder to keep stuff as being on the move all the time is a bummer:

1. collecting and carrying water
2. killing fresh animal
3. collecting various vegetables from the natural environs
4. making rudimentary tools
5. watching TV
6. looking after the younglings
7. Using the internet (yes they do this even if they are living in non Westernized underwood surroundings)
8. watching the stars and gazing into the embers of the fire that went out some time back
9. fighting off predators, which usually means forest clearance companies with huge automated tree killing machinery that runs 24/7
10. gossiping
11. sleeping

The author lived in a narrow boat in Oxford while reading, for years.² This lifestyle is charming. However, much of the activity that belongs to a nomadic lifestyle applies to living on the canal. British Waterways do provide taps with actual water, but this water is not potable. It’s safer to buy water from TESCO and then carry it up the towpath to the boat. Since the author is vegetarian, he didn’t waste time killing fresh animal. Nevertheless, he did occasionally feed from the elderflower bush. Also, being on the move all the time is a bummer.

If you are looking at this whole world of microdose power for the first time in your life, or you are a procrastinator, then buy pre-packed truffles. There are mammoth online businesses in Amsterdam that will be happy to help out. If you live in the United Kingdom, you should take a trip to Glastonbury, where you will find establishments that sell growing kits and all sorts of paraphernalia that you may or may not need.

The main point here is that if you are new to the subject or tend to make excuses, you should just buy truffles that are already packed in plastic.

This will at least get you going on the journey. Taking the first step is always the most difficult part of journeying. You may spend days, months or even years planning, discussing and generally waffling on about a journey that you really want to do.

Mushrooms are not plants, and require different conditions for optimal growth. Plants develop through photosynthesis, a process by which atmospheric carbon dioxide is converted into carbohydrates, especially cellulose. While sunlight provides an energy source for plants, Mushrooms obtain all of their energy and growth materials from their growth medium, through biochemical decomposition processes. This doesn’t mean that light is irrelevant, since some fungi use light as a signal to fruit. However, all the necessary materials for growth must already be present in the growth medium. Mushrooms grow well at relative humidity levels of around 95–100%, and substrate moisture levels of 50 to 75%.

This book may eventually contain detailed directions on how to grow Mushrooms. However, this will be a subject for later on.
